Consulting Services
Crutchall Resource Recycling was conceived after 5 years of researching potential materials for recycling. We approached the State of Michigan to exempt shingles from the waste stream in Spring 2007. The first permit issued to collect and recycle shingles in Michigan was granted to Crutchall Resource Recycling. In 2008, we opened 5 locations across the state. Our extensive experience dealing with environmental agencies, government agencies from the local level to multiple states and departments, operating our asbestos lab, purchasing & operating equipment designed specifically for this industry, the dumpster services, roofing and hot mix asphalt industries makes us an expert in every aspect of this business.
We are the only shingle recycler in the nation that has:
5 locations
Private Asbestos Lab
Certification Program for the Hauling & Roofing Industry
Provided RAS to several hot mix asphalt plants
We believe there is no greater opportunity to provide a more needed service to our community than this industry offers. Limiting the growth of landfills, decreasing our nation's dependence on foreign oil, reusing previously mined aggregates, creating savings for roofing & hot mix asphalt industries, and generating new jobs in our local communities! Crutchall Resource Recycling is commited to assisting this industry nationwide.
Have Grinder, will travel!
Because of the frosty winters in Michigan, our grinders are mobile and available for grinding services from November 1 through March 31. Our grinders are designed to chew through shingles; a very abrasive product, this translates - we can chew up almost anything! They are more than capable of handling storm clean-ups also.
We also offer our grinding service to other shingle collectors. Our grinder is a 3680 Beast Bandit made in Remus, MI. Bandit has perfected the grind process for shingles and we are proud to be affiliated with them. Using our system, we can grind to any size you require at a competitive price. We’ll do the job on time and right the first time.

Potential Alternative Fuel
Alternative Energy, a buzzword of our day, here is how Wikipedia defines it,
"Alternative energy refers to any source of usable energy intended to supplement or replace conventional energy sources such as fossil fuels. Alternative energy is often synonymous with renewable energy, although alternative energy is not necessarily renewable."
Asphalt Shingle tear-offs have considerable potential to serve as alternative fuel (replacing coal) to the Cement Manufacturing Industry and CFB Boilers.
In the State of Michigan currently, recycled shingles are permitted for use in the Hot Mix Asphalt Industry only. CRR will approach the Waste Hazardous Materials Division of the Department of Environmental Quality to consider other promising uses for recycled shingles.
Crutchall Resource Recycling (CRR) is searching out partners for further research in this field.
